I have just purchased a 160 amp charge controller 12 volt with display  for my wind turbine but unfortunately it came without instruction for wiring. I am unsure if it has a built in diode or am I to install one between the turbine and the controller?? Any help would be greatly appreciated in aiding me to wire this controller correctly. regards Phil

Hi, Please view the beawindhog.com website in our charge controller section there is a wiring diagram.

When should the dumpload kick in?
I have a analog volt meter attached to dumpload.
Batterys are fully charged with no drain currently on them.
Generator has been spinning like a son of a gun.

Here is a video of it in operation.

Obviously the dumpload is not showing current when it apparently should.
That is why I posed the question.
Are there caveats, current levels, elapsed time parms?

From the looks of it your going to be very low on current.  The controller will disconnect when appropriate nominal deep cycle battery voltage is 14.6 volts then it should click into dumpload you will read voltage across the dumpload with a VOM

I also noticed your turbine is very low and that tree is forcing it to do circles that will be about a 50 percent power loss as consistency of wind is crucial for good power.

Just to let you know if you have a 12 volt or 24 volt system we have a all new stator now that can generate about 4 times more power.

The upgrade is 100 dollars.
